Our New Baby!
Well, yesterday we went to Chessington and met one of the LRRSE co-ordinators, Penny to see what we thought of one of the labrador X puppies. We came home with this little menace and have called him Toby. It's been a very worrying 24 hours - he had terrible diarrhoea and by the evening was passing large amounts of blood. At 10pm last night, we rang the emergency vet and drove to the surgery, after finding a pool of blood in the kitchen. Today, after another vet visit, lots of help via a syringe to drink special electrolyte solution and injections and tablets, he has started to look a little better. This afternoon, after he'd eaten for the first time, he went outside and had a little play with the football. He's very snappy - and we'll wait and see if he gets less grumpy when he is out of pain. But, I wanted to let you see him! :)

Oh he is gorgeous, lucky you. I love his little brown paws they dont seem to belong to the rest of him. He is almost as big as his football!!!

He's gorgeous! Poor little mite he will have been through a lot in his short life, and being ill on top of that ... Really hope he recovers very quickly. If you would like my dog settling in and de-stressing handout, please send me a PM. Good luck with him. I just love his brindle legs :D

O bless him! He is sooo cute! I am sure he'll settle down once he finds his feet - no doubt firmly under your table and in your heart! (that's probably already happened!)

Pleased to hear Toby is feeling better today. :) :D Love the photos! Sue

Thanks Sue. He's coming out of himself now and is a bit of a rascal (that was his name in the kennels actually!!!)... he got stuck behind an armchair last night and kept popping up like a Jack in the Box, wagging his tail madly and squeaking with excitement. His tummy is still poorly and yesterday there was blood again but I'm not stressing too much, since he's on antibiotics and chicken and rice. Here's a picture that we took this morning (his first moment in the big doggy bed with Amber and Willow). A miracle!

I know, but I LOVE it!!!! I was trying to work on the computer today and suddenly, they all woke up! It was mayhem... running around the kitchen table, in and out of the garden and stealing each others toys. Just a minute ago, I heard 'munch munch munch' and saw that Toby had somehow wedged himself next to the cupboard and was busy chewing through the telephone wire. We don't have a phone in the kitchen now and I've been round, proofing the room so that it's Double Toby Proof! Thing is, Willow is only 5 months old and she never chewed anything except her toys - I couldn't help but laugh though - he's such a little tinker. He reminds me of a black fluffball running around the garden - Penny from LRRSE said he may be Lab X collie.. but I'm unsure... there's definitely a bit of German Shepherd in there, especially with his fluffy coat. WE DO LOVE HIM!

it's hard not to - even when they are being little buggers! We've officially had our rescue Lab Willow 1 year today and so as we didn't know anything about her past, today is her 2nd birthday - so we shared a Rice Crispie cake! What more could a Lab need! (I'm sure she'd say - the whole packet please!) Anyway, we too love her to bits even though she has just come in from the snowy rain and shook herself all over me..............grrrr!
