Bouncy one year olds I was just looking at the dogs needing homes (sometimes I think it would be nice for Crusoe to have a friend then I remember common sense . . .) and saw that you are recommending older families for the one year olds. I can see why with our one year old loony and my young children (2 and 6 years old) but I do think if anyone's thinking of giving a home to a young dog, that it does get easier - as long as Crusoe's had a good walk, he settles really well and is a better person with the kids (less jumping up, less 'stealing' of their things) and although he can be really infuriating at times, we're growing into him and he into us - he seems to have realised that he's one now and can start to behave a little more sociably!

I agree with you! Our old gal Bess was a complete nutter when she was 1 - she actually did the wall of death! However, our Rescue, Willow - she's been a different story. She was 12 months when she came to us and I'm sure she'd make an excellent Pat Dog - she's terrific will all the little ones - lays down and they all cuddle up to her down at the school.
She has plenty of mad moments and is by far the best behaved dog with us but just seems to be very instinctive with little ones - plus she laps up all the attention no doubt! - All part of being a rescue I'm sure, loves the one to one attention and the feeling of being wanted and she is! very much!
