Big Ben
Well, where do I begin. We arrived at the meeting place to find a lot of animal rescue ambulances. Walking past a big white van we saw this beautiful labrador sat in the bottom looking so lost and confused. Upon finding the van driver we asked if this was our "Ben". :P He fetched the papers and said yes he was. What absolute excitement. He was brought out for us and after signing the paperwork he was ours. We took him for a walk to stretch his legs and then set off for the journey home. Upon arriving home the poor cat didn't know what had hit him - he was chased everywhere and absolute chaos reigned. Who would believe three months on that they curl up together at night. When we first heard about Ben we were told he was found straying and not claimed. Well, our 6' fence held no bounds for him, one leap and he was over and gone. We bought a spike for the garden and had him tied to that when we were outside. We increased the height of the fence and yet he still found ways out, it was quite incredible. After one particular session when I was shopping and got a call from my neighbour to say that Ben had just escaped again. Shopping abandoned and driving home there was Ben strolling down the road. not a care in the world. The next day it was off to the vets for a snip job. Well - that was the changing point. He is now just the most amazing dog who sits out in the front garden on his own and watches the world go by and walks our now glorious as he can run freely and not be kept on a lead as he no longer has the urge to run off. Our love for him grows every day. He may have cost £800 for a new fence, £250 to have him castrated and £3,000 for a caravan so that we can take him away at weekends and have wonderful walks, but what the hell, to have the unconditional love that Ben has for us holds no bounds.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried inserting an image but just get the word Img. Am I doing something wrong? Sue

What a lovely story - I use photobucket - you upload photos from your pc onto it and then you can post a photo here using the url code. Others seem to be able to just put a photo on here though without doing this - Elaine does - how do you do that??

Sounds like Ben got his happy ending! :D I can't wait to see a photo.

Ohh thats Lovely, that castration was expensive  My Bens cost £150 and he was a BIG Boy

BlackandYellow- 06-16-2007

Blimey - castrations are expensive which surprises me - more than Willow's spay which I always understood were a bit more of a serious op- but then what do I know - I work at a bank!

craskehouse- 06-16-2007

Our Vets price theirs by the size off the Dog.

Sometimes it does depend where you go - my friend's Spaniel was only 6 months old when she was spayed and her op was a lot more than Willow's - who was fully grown and a chunky lab.
