£1 for the Pound
£1 for the Pound If you have read through our web site you will see that each week we try to help save the life of a Labrador that for one reason or another has ended up in the dog pound in Ireland. Some of these dogs are unclaimed strays (many of which have been ruthlessly thrown out on to the streets) and some of these dogs are surrendered because their families can no longer keep them. The strays are kept for 5 days and if unclaimed will then be destroyed, the surrenders sometime are destroyed on the same day if the pound is full. These dogs range in ages from a few weeks old to the last weeks of their lives. The dog pound is not a nice place to be for any dog either young or old. The kennels are often cramped metal cages in which they receive one small meal a day and with only a bowl of water for company the dogs are frightened, bewildered and will just shiver in darkness of their surroundings. Please help us to help them. To transport a dog over here costs us £65 and we are often charged another £10 to vaccinate the dog and some dog pounds also ask a release fee of £15. Sometimes when the dog arrives they may need a short spell in one of the private kennels we use, this costs £10 per day. Occasionally a dog will need medical treatment before we can re-home him and this can be very costly. So….. if you would like to help save the lives of more beautiful Labradors and Labrador X’s then tape a pound coin between two pieces of thin cardboard and pop it in an envelope and post to: June Chapman LRRSE 1 Burlington Crescent Headington Oxford OX3 8DY Of course if you would like to send a cheque we will also be delighted. We will keep you posted on how your money has helped. LRRSE does not have any paid workers, therefore all the money we raise is used on the welfare and re-homing of dogs. These are just a few of the dogs that have been saved from the pound. On the top of our wish list is to have some kennels of our own – maybe one day!

Great idea 8) 8) The kennels maybe a dream but that dream became a reality for Glenys at Lab Rescue North West so lets keep our fingers crossed that it will become a reality for LRRSE  Lucy xx
